In his key note presentation, Open APIs: The business model for association technology in the 21st Century JP Morgenthal, Sr. Analyst, Burton Group (link to bio on speaker page) will discuss the value of the open API model, complete with real-life examples of how this new technology model is changing the way associations are doing business.

The second day of the Personify Open Summit is designed for TMA Resources’ customers who seek to understand or work with the Personify platform as well as people who may not yet consider themselves developers, but are interested in learning more.
This all day hands-on training course is similar to the Developer Day that was held at the 2008 TAUG conference. If you did not attend the TAUG Developer Day sign up for the introduction track; if you did participate in Developer Day we suggest continuing your training in the advanced track. Remember space is limited make sure to register soon.

TMA Resources launched Personify just over two years ago. In a short amount of time Personify has grown and already changed the way association executives work. Hear what’s next for Personify from members of our senior development team. Learn about recent additions to the Personify Studio toolkit, advances in notification services and dynamic search, and discover more about Personify Web services and API documentation enhancements.
Morning Break

Use this time to check your e-mail, make a call, and network with other developers or simply grab a snack and enjoy the downtime.

Lunch

Relax for an hour with other developers. Use this time to discuss what you’ve learned with other developers and TMA Resources’ staff.

Introductory Track Courses
Intro to APIs
10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
New to the Personify platform? You won’t be for long. This hands-on introductory course will help you become familiar with Personify architecture as well as the Personify API platform and object model. You’ll learn how to extend Personify APIs and you’ll gain an understanding of how to extend Personify data structures using database designer.
Course prerequisites: Attendees should be familiar with VB.Net, Visual Basic, or similar languages and have knowledge of object oriented programming concepts.
Intro to Studio
2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Personify Studio drastically reduces IT development time; learn how in this session designed for beginners. Not only will you become familiar with Personify Studio, but you will also leave with an understanding of screen designing, e.g. visual studio form designer\Web page designing. By the end of the course you will be able to extend screens and extend the database object model.
Intro to Web Services
4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
This course will introduce you to the fundamentals of Web services; including why they are useful and how Personify makes use of them. Learn about both simple and universal Web services for Personify and learn guidelines for distinguishing which one to use in various situations. You will also be introduced to the Web Service Studio—a helpful tool for all developers.
Advanced Track Courses
Advanced APIs
10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Experienced developers take advantage of this course to increase your knowledge about the Personify API platform and object model. Participants will learn how to extend Personify order entry APIs and discover how to implement business logic for advanced validation. Participants will also learn about configuration management, debugging, and tips and tricks that will save you time and energy.
Course prerequisites: Attendees should
- Understand oriented programming concepts
- Be familiar with VB.Net, visual basic, or similar languages
OR - Have attended basic API Training or attended the first Developer Day at TAUG
- Be familiar with Personify data model and business work flow.
Advanced Studio
2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Become a Personify Studio expert. This hands-on session will cover advanced Personify Studio features including advanced database object modeling and screen designing. Learn more about developing code behind and walk away with helpful hints for working with Personify Studio.
Course prerequisites: Attendees should have knowledge of screen designing e.g. visual studio form designer\Web page designing.
4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
This advanced course will cover how to extend Personify Web Services for use with your Web solution, including third-part partners. You will learn how to use Microsoft Visual Studio for incorporating Web Services into your Web solution and how to use the results of Web Service calls. You will also learn about compiling extended Web Service projects and publishing your extended Web Services.
