Planes, Trains, and Automobiles…or just Planes, Passports, and Hotel Rooms

This year we are headed to Vancouver, Canada for TAUG.  It’s never too early to start preparing for your trip, eh?  The most important preparations for the trip to TAUG, besides an eagerness to learn more about Personify/TIMSS and have the time of your life, are your travel arrangements.

Vancouver is an easy city to travel to from the USA.  To make travel even easier here are some travel tips to save you time and money.

You need a passport to enter Canada.  If you don’t have a passport now is the time to get it.

Obtaining a passport takes about four to six weeks for routine service.  You can get your passport expedited, which takes two to three weeks.  The process is very simple.  You can fill out your passport application online and head to the closest passport acceptance facility to submit your paper work.  Then you are on your way to getting your first international stamp!

If you already have a passport make sure that it is not going to expire before or during the conference.  If it is you will have to renew your passport.

We have also made the customs process easier for entering Canada by registering the conference.  No one wants to play twenty questions right off the plane, so print out our letter that confirms we have a Canadian Customs verified conference and you are an attendee.  The letter can be found on our TAUG Web site.  You can also find a link to travel requirements to Canada.

Booking your hotel and airline travel are easy to do on this site too.  Use the Westin Bayshore hotel link to reserve your room online in about five minutes.  The room rate at the hotel is $205 CAD, plus taxes a night.  We encourage you to come a little early or stay a little later for the same rate; however, make sure to book soon so you don’t miss this great deal, which comes to an end March 11th.

Another great deal you don’t want to miss is discounted airfare.  This year we are lucky to partner with Canada Air and American Airlines to offer you savings on your airfare to Vancouver.  Just use the airlines Web site to find a ticket and enter the discount code provided on our Web site.

We want to make getting to TAUG as smooth as possible, so all you have to worry about is what sessions to attend and maybe which Sunday Funday activity you want to do.  We look forward to seeing you in Vancouver!
